Stopsley Striders Take X Country 3rd Place

Sunday 1st February saw the last fixture in the 2025/26 Three Counties Cross Country League. 

Going into the fixture, Stopsley Striders Women were in 3rd place, as was the combined Men & Women team. Two of our Striders were also sitting in 1st Place for the Age Group awards. 

The race took place in Wing, and was organised by Leighton Fun Runners. The route was 1.5 laps of a small field and then 3 laps of  a larger field. A total distance of 9km / 5.4 miles. The finishing straight was an uphill struggle, back in the smaller field. Many runners were seen needing assistance after finishing, but none were Striders!

Once the race was completed, all runners gathered at the race HQ, to drink tea / coffee, eat sandwiches and cake, whilst nervously awaiting the results. 

Once the results were announced, we were not disappointed:

For the final event, Stopsley Striders Women were 3rd, Stopsley Striders Men were 6th and the Combined Team were 4th.

Well done to all who took part in any of the 2025/26 X Country events. You can all be rightly proud of our Teams’ and Individual’s  achievements. If you feel inspired and would like to take part in the 2026/27 season, later this year there will be a call for participants to register.
