August 2019 – Chairmans Comments

As most people are winding down for the holidays in August, it is one of our busiest months. Our annual 5 and 10 mile trail race was on the 11th, this is not an easy event to organise and thank you to our race director Tom Rankin for doing a great job. Thank you too for everyone who ran the event but especially our marshalls and helpers – runners come back to races for a good medal and great marshals and we had some brilliant comments about the support and encouragement they got on the way round so thank you. Put it in your diary for next year.

The Alf Brown Handicap race is always a highlight on the club calendar and this year was no exception. It was a really beautiful evening and 76 keen members took part in the event. Well done Mary Brennan for winning!

As the summer fades and the nights start getting shorter, do make sure to wear bright clothing and stay safe. Cross country is just around the corner and our captains are keen to get a big team together, even if you are just thinking about it, put your name down, every runner who takes part makes a difference to the scoring.
